    Creative Mastermind

    Andy Morris – or A7 as he is known in the arts community – is an artist at heart. "Throughout my life, creativity has been the thread that weaves it all together", he explains. A graduate from the Ontario College of Art and Design, he has a passion for a diverse range of media, including painted, sculptural, electronic, and video elements.

    In addition to obtaining his Bachelor of Fine Arts, Andy also has an education and professional experience in information technology. His passion is to merge technology and arts in creative ways.

    Andy created Hotcakes New Media in 2008 as a production-based company after working in the non-profit sector, and has grown it into the diverse creative think-tank it is today. Andy is responsible for all creative decisions, and oversees the video production and design work as well as providing all creative consulting.

    DAVE JAEGGIN

    Video Superstar

    David has been involved with the local television industry in Ottawa since his graduation from the Television & Broadcasting Program at Algonquin College in 2001. Volunteering his services as a cameraperson for Rogers Cable 22 and working in studio with CBC on such shows as MUSICWORKS, he decided he wanted to take his passion for video and film production a little further and made his way to Rockport, Maine, USA to the International Film Workshops. There he worked on a crash course of short film productions where he wrote and directed two of his own. His 16 mm short called “Need a Ride”, was showcased at Light Plays Tricks, a short film festival in Kingston, Ontario. David has recently finished production on his short film entitled Real, and is currently submitting it to film festivals around the world for screening.

    Also a member of IFCO and a university graduate with a BA in Psychology, David brings enthusiasm, spontaneity and creativity to all his projects. He is responsible for all video production requirements at Hotcakes New Media, and participates in all creative think sessions.

    Master of Light

    Jeff began his career in the visual arts as a photographer approximately 17 years ago and has since branched out into filmmaking. He studied at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, the Ontario College of Art and Humber College. Jeff has also been involved in Toronto's independent film and visual arts community for the past twelve years. He has worked in a variety of roles on film and video productions as well as producing his own programs and exhibiting his photographs.

    His recent projects have included BLUE, a nine-screen video grid that explores both the sublime and banal stories of everyday life, FLOW, an underwater video originally exhibited as a public space projection, and THE HOUND PROJECT, a public space installation in which Jeff ran his dog for mayor, then prime minister. His series Sleepwalk, a haunting collection of colour night photographs, has exhibited in Canada, the USA, and also in England alongside master photographer Bill Brandt's work. Jeff's award-winning films and videos have been screened at numerous festivals and broadcast around the world. Jeff is the Director of Photography at Hotcakes New Media and assists in most major video productions.

    The Voice of Hotcakes

    Born and raised in the Ottawa Valley, Tina had always dreamed of finding her career behind the camera producing motion pictures. She attended Algonquin College from 1993-1995, completing her 3-year Business Administration Diploma with a Major in Marketing. Although eager to find that dream job at a Marketing firm, she found her way through various jobs in the government sector and has been proudly helping those who serve at National Defence for about a decade.

    Tina is always seeking to scratch her never-ending itch to be creative, and now lends her expertise and talent in marketing and creative writing in support of Hotcakes New Media projects. She participates in all think tank discussions and provides creative support and writing for all video and web projects at Hotcakes New Media. She is also proud to document behind the scenes at all Hotcakes video productions and assists on set for talent management and organization.
